Leadership & Executive Coaching
What would it be like to feel excited and fired up about going to work every day? What if you couldn’t wait to join your team mates and your customers and deliver amazing results? What if work felt more a calling than a chore; felt nourishing and fulfilling; felt like it leveraged and rewarded the best parts of you? What if your workplace made you feel like your life, your contribution, your presence made a difference?
Sound like a dream?
Some of us are stuck in soul-sucking hum-drum toxic treadmills of a workplace. And that sucks! But you can change that, if you want to. You can create the mindset and the relationships that shift how you think and feel about your workplace, whether you’re the boss or the an LWAT (leader without a title). Once you’re clear on what you stand for (and what you won’t) your choices will influence the way things are so you can stay and thrive, or find out that you’re better aligned in a different workplace.
I believe that all work is relationship-based, and therefore all workplaces work better when we foster functional relationships and encourage fired up team members. People are the key to any organization’s success, no matter what business you’re in, or how big or small your operation.
In all types of workplaces, we rely on others to get things done: to produce results, to serve clients and customers, to provide the behind-the-scenes functions that allow our businesses and organizations to shine. Work gets done more efficiently, creatively and effectively (and fun-ly!) when we have solid functional relationships. And we’ve all seen the stats about engaged and motivated employees.
The basis of any functional relationship is trust. Trust comes from positive shared experience, and knowing we can count on each other. In the workplace, trust relies on the skills of setting expectations, collaborating with and enabling team members, holding accountability, rewarding courage and learning from First Attempts In Learning (FAIL-ures). To do this, we must be able to communicate effectively, clearly and tactfully…especially when the stakes are high or things aren’t going well.
I’ve been there.
I spent over 20 years in corporate environments, from small boutique consulting firms of 15 people, to large government organizations of 2500+. Some of those workplaces were high-functioning, positive, empowering spaces that valued employees’ contributions and focused on continuous improvement. It was actually fun and challenging and enlivening to be at work! Others were toxic cesspools of the worst human behaviours imaginable, with teams working against each other and out of alignment with the corporate direction. It was a different kind of challenging to muster the energy to show up every day.
I’m grateful for all the workplaces I’ve been part of, and I’ve distilled learning from all of them. I’ve had the privilege of building and leading teams from the ground up, advising senior leaders and executives on strategy, people management and process design, and shaping corporate culture at the department to organizational scales. I’ve supported leaders and teams, both internally and as a consultant, to create trust, practice effective communication, make better decisions, improve processes, and become high-functioning, and dare I say, happy and fired up at work.
Executives and Managers
You’re a leader who wants to:
lead with more heart and personal integrity so you can find meaning and joy in your work again
bring more heart to your corporate environment or team so it feels warm, safe and supportive
build trust with your direct reports, peers and superiors or board
address inconsistencies in behaviours within your direct reports so your team is highly productive
influence better decision-making
inspire passionate buy-in and commitment to the corporate mandate
prioritize what matters most so you know where to direct your limited hours and energy at work, so you can have a life outside work, too
establish non-negotiable self-care practices that enable you to perform at your optimum level, consistently
You might be seasoned and looking to sharpen your leadership style and skills, or you might be stepping into a new leadership role and want to start on the right foot.
You can be the leader that creates the impact and results you want, and brings more heart to your leadership and your workplace.

Your team members might be looking for:
more trust, less toxicity: intentional culture design
better (open, honest, without retribution) communication
shared values and goals
appreciation of diversity and differences to better use everyone’s strengths and play to everyone’s interests
to improve decision-making processes, including how meetings are conducted and work is divvied up
to build resilience to manage through change saturation
improved time management
increased and consistent accountability and consequences
motivation and rewards that mean something
to process the loss or removal of a team member or leader, and figure out how to move forward together to get the work done
exercises and coaching to help team members decide to stay with this team, or leave if it’s no longer a fit
Your team might be long-standing with lots of shared history (and baggage), or newly formed and need to hit the ground running. With your leadership, and some support, your team can become a trusting, high-functioning, productive and fun work unit, with heart and passion.
